Meet the Pets of Tuxes!

RomoWhen it comes to promoting our biggest fundraiser of the year, Seattle Humane pets do it best! We only feature SHS alumni in our Tuxes & Tails materials because your support at this event directly benefits the pets in our care. We’d like to introduce you to this year’s adorable pet models — Romo the pup and Jefferson the kitten.

Romo is a 1-year-old purebred Yorkshire Terrier who, thanks to our Life-Saver Program, was rescued from another shelter where he had run out of time. Romo was nervous in his new surroundings, but with encouragement from our devoted staff, Romo quickly came out of his shell. With his scruffy good looks and new-found confidence, we thought Romo would make a great doggie model for Tuxes & Tails.

Romo was adopted by a loving family the day after Thanksgiving and now happily spends his days snuggling with his new Yorkie brother, Tank.

JeffersonJefferson, a 2-month-old Siamese mix, was also rescued through our Life-Saver Program and brought to safety at Seattle Humane with his mother and six littermates. Jefferson and his siblings were only 2-weeks-old when they arrived at Seattle Humane, and it was clear that this little family needed special care. Thanks to our volunteer Foster Care Program, we were able to place them in a home with experienced foster parents who helped mom nurse by bottle feeding Jefferson and his littermates around the clock. Most shelters do not have the resources to provide for newborn pets, but our extensive network of volunteer foster families make it possible to save the lives of the most fragile animals.

After several weeks of foster care, Jefferson, his siblings, and his mother were all adopted into loving homes of their own.

We wish to extend a huge thank you to Seattle Humane Society volunteer extraordinaire, Divya Kumar, for donating her incredible photography skills and to our human model, Rachael Ruble Weston, for donating her beauty (and patience!).
